In alignment with Aramark’s sustainability platform and campus sustainability initiatives, the Sustainability Coordinator works directly with field operations teams to implement standard operating sustainability procedures and practices in the areas of responsible sourcing, efficient operations and waste minimization. The position will manage the overall sustainability program for dining operations, while partnering with the onsite marketing team to communicate results which directly affects our shared environment, sales growth, market penetration and customer satisfaction. Additionally, this position will act as an agent for change management by creating awareness of the program's key objectives and establishing training while implementing programs that achieve key objectives. This position will educate the Aramark team and the campus community on sustainability concepts, frameworks and programs and how these programs impact the community and our environment. An emphasis will be placed on client partnerships and the local community, such as hosting uncomfortable lunches to initiate dialogue around a sustainable platform.
Continue developing and reinforcing a comprehensive waste minimization strategy and program for campus dining with a focus on Green Thread and other Aramark programs
Establish partnerships with local growers/producers through approved supply chain management processes while maintaining a focus on supplier diversity
Emphasis on maintaining and strengthening relationships with University vendors, such as the University Meat Lab and student-run organic farm, Cornercopia
Work with the operations team on energy and water conservation initiatives and green building practices in all dining facilities
Create sustainability marketing and education awareness campaigns, events and newsletters
Participate in regular meetings with campus sustainability departments, student groups and organizations to collaborate on sustainability initiatives and ensure that our environmental goals and projects align
Participate in senior leadership team meetings and partner with the executive culinary team
Coordinate sustainability training for the management team and hourly employees
Responsible for the oversight of five sustainability interns, from scheduling shifts to project assignment
Sustainability reporting for quarterly University Client Report
Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing or Business Management or a related field and have a basic understanding of the range and diversity of sustainability topics with a focus on higher education
2 to 4 years of experience developing sustainability project goals and strategies in an educational or corporate setting
Must possess the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and be able to build strong relationships with clients and customers as well as Aramark teams to accomplish goals and objectives.
Possessing the ability to influence complex decision-making processes is fundamental.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
