Description:

Position Description:

  • The Safety Intern is a member of the SFA Dining Nutrition Department who gets functional direction from the Registered Dietitian. This position will receive exposure to food service environment. The internship will last at least one full school year (Fall & Spring Semester).

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Support Registered Dietitian to in the development and field implementation of Aramark policies, programs and standards in the area of food and worksite safety.

  • Perform SAFE observations and Dietary Restriction audits

  • Keep dining locations compliant with National Menu Labeling legislation

  • Assist with various other nutrition events during key times in the Fall & Spring Semester

  • Additional duties as determined by Registered Dietitian

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate student in Food Science, Hospitality, Management, Nutrition, or related field.

  • Servsafe Manager Preferred

  • Self-starter and ability to take calculated initiative

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate, and ability to lead without formal authority.

  • Excellent attention to detail, demonstrated time management skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate (juniors and seniors only) or graduate students, and recent graduates early in their career; maximum of 5 years professional experience.

  • Academic degree, experience or interest specific or related to environmental issues is required

  • Studies, knowledge or career interests in hospitality and tourism, facilities services, or food and nutrition strongly preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated evidence as team player, and excellent oral and written communication skills (including public speaking). Project and program management experience a plus.

  • Proven leadership skills, strong analytic and planning skills, an ability to understand and synthesize diverse and competing processes and viewpoints.

  • Maturity and experience to understand the diverse challenges and opportunities in finding the nexus between environmental activities, financial constraints, and operational excellence.

  • Previous experience working for or with ARAMARK, and ability to understand the dynamics of our business model, is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
