Position Objective

The Instructional Designer develops training content to ensure that end-users are successfully trained. The Instructional Designer may partner with a team (typically of consultants) to plan, design, build, test, and deploy the training content across multiple lines of business, sites, and countries and ensures that project methodology is effectively applied and that project standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Training Program Managers to develop training plans.

  • Partner with internal business process owners to design and develop training solutions.

  • Define current state environments, understand future state needs, and define training plans to address gaps.

  • Design training solutions to include instructor-led presentations (face-to-face and virtual), online courses, and self-study sessions.

  • Participate in content review, revision, and sign-off cycles for end-user training and reference materials.

  • Leverage knowledge of Aramark's processes, strategies and industry trends to ensure efficient and timely delivery of training.

  • Help to establish standards for use of commercially available training development tools that will be adopted beyond the completion of the project.

  • Ensure deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.

  • Partner with Learning Services to ensure content is stable through deployment options.

  • Continually evaluate effectiveness of current programs and conducts ongoing skills and needs assessments.

Reporting Relationships

Reports directly to Manager, Instructional Design for Aramark Academy.

Managerial Responsibility:

This position has no direct management responsibility.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Training & Organizational Development or related subject

  • 2-3 years of experience developing custom training solutions

  • Experience developing content for blended training programs throughout their lifecycle (production – deployment-maintenance)

  • Experience working on a large-scale project in a multi-site/multi-national field based environment.

  • Experience developing e-learning with expert skill in using mainstream authoring tools (i.e. Articulate, Captivate, HTML5, Flash)

  • Experience with Oracle UPK (User productivity Kit) preferably in building & managing UPK content & libraries

  • Working knowledge of learning management systems

  • Knowledge of virtual workshop facilitation, certification a plus

  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization

  • Clear knowledge and application of adult education principles

  • Capable of building strong relationships, and influencing without direct authority

  • Strong time management and multitasking capabilities
