The candidate will be responsible for performing and leading a range of functions in the areas of technical design/review, development, deployment, and integration of the Cognos reporting and analytic solutions.
Duties will also include troubleshooting, data analysis, upgrade projects, and providing insight on newer technologies to help drive efficient information delivery, as well as support of existing internal and vendor-interfacing systems and processes as well as documentation of information using ARAMARK templates and methodologies.
The candidate will also perform data analysis and develop reporting specs, develop reports, and develop dashboards as well as develop application components that enable users to interact with complex data sets, process and ingest data, and use business intelligence tools to generate interactive reports.
Responsibilities may also include identifying areas of deficiencies, reviewing IT requirements/design/development of Cognos solutions, solution architecture development, proof of concept/prototype design, infrastructure requirements development, database design, architecture and administration, application development, testing and analyzing user interfaces, cubes and various reports.
The Senior Cognos Developer may be responsible for installation, configuration, data modeling, report and query creation.
This position requires excellent communication skills, with breadth and depth of technical skills and experience
Recommend, Design and Develop BI Solutions by providing technical expertise in IBM Cognos 10 BI Suite– Developing Reports and Dashboards in Report Studio, Insight, TM1, Mashup Services.
Provide Design and Development for Data Modeling in Framework Manager and/ or Transformer for Relational and Dimensional Package and Cube Building.
Collaborate in executing a BI Strategy and Roadmap by contributing individually and collaborating with the team members by providing guidance and assistance on training and usage of IBM Cognos 10 and concepts.
Perform key reporting functions (routine and ad-hoc) and drive operations by providing actionable data and building decision making information.
Build into strong subject matter expertise through BI, Data warehousing and functional knowledge.
Must be quick to identify and resolve issues (on-site during business hours and on-call support during off hours)
Must be able to multitask and have experience with interacting within a diverse user / customer base
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; experience working with senior managers and members of other departments. Must be comfortable in working and communicating with customer representatives to expand relationships
Experience with other technology languages such as: JAVA, .NET, Active Server Pages (ASP), COM, Visual Basic/C#, Java Script/VB Script, HTML, DHTML, XML, and .NET Framework a plus
5+ years in Business Reporting and Analytical roles.
5+ years of Business Intelligence / Analytics skills in IBM Cognos or outstanding experience in equivalent.
Proficiency in PL/SQL, Excel, and Office tools required.
Experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server preferred.
Knowledge of other BI tools - SPSS, Qlikview, Micro Strategies, and Business Objects in addition to Cognos will be a bonus.
Demonstrated analytical capabilities related to financial and operational process improvements.
Ability to maximize technology expertise to deliver re-usable and scalable business process enhancements.
Experience in identifying and developing key performance indicators and management reporting.
Accomplished ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities for self and team.
Very strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
