As the Payroll Implementation and Configuration Analyst you will supports the Canadian Payroll team by providing day-to-day payroll configuration and system support, functional expertise linking Canadian Payroll business requirements and processes with the technical requirements needed by IT and the SaaS provider Ultimate Software, plus ensures all documentation, tools and internal training materials are developed and maintained for both core payroll staff and end users. You will be the driving force maintaining this in-house payroll system responsible for 15,000 employees across all provinces and multiple unions.
Effectively supports the implementation and configuration of the Canadian aspects of the UltiPro system.
Ensures that any subsequent changes to business rules, enhancements and upgrades are completed on a timely and accurate basis, while ensuring data integrity and statutory compliance to collective bargaining agreements and government legislation are maintained and that the changes consider ease of use and is fully sustainable within business processes.
Oversees the development of configuration documentation and management procedures.
Builds strong, effective working relationships through team work and collaboration to ensure a solid understanding of processes for all Payroll requirements, both company and regulatory, plus interdependent HR programs and other systems, both internally (i.e. Oracle HCM, Kronos, etc.) and externally (i.e. Conduent, etc.).
Ensure data quality, integrity and support the security of all configurations within the UltiPro database.
Schedule regular audits and testing of the configuration, especially when system tax updates and other functional new releases are provided by the vendor Ultimate Software.
Liaise with the vendor (Ultimate Software) implementation teams in conducting configuration meetings and maintaining project schedule related to the Canadian payroll functionality.
Analyze configuration issues and develop appropriate resolutions and action items.
Conduct orientations and trainings for new hires within the Payroll & Benefits team.
Conduct functional testing, develop test scripts and seed data, plus oversee the test environment for Canada.
Develop and maintain the necessary documentation and tools to support the usage of the Payroll and its interdependent systems.
Work with management in Canada and the US HO to analyze the business processes, workflows and training material for improvement opportunities and when needed, help define the operational impact of proposed modifications.
Develops and maintains all Payroll and Benefit related content on the HR portal (i.e. FAQ’s, user guides, process checklists, etc.).
Minimum 5 years of experience in configuring and maintaining payroll and/or HCM systems.
Excellent knowledge of payroll and HR legislation
Previous experience with in-house payroll
