Description:

Position Summary: Electrician will install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair a wide range of electrical equipment and associated controls located in the interior and exterior of the buildings on the campus.

  • The Electrician executes the timely and correct performance of scheduled assignments, work requests and projects.

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine correct layout and troubleshoot of commercial/industrial electrical equipment installations

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of electrical equipment and related components in accordance with all applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, OSHA, etc...) including maintain accurate records.

  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, Ethernet and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components

  • Test electrical, electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance

  • Research and specify repair parts from manuals and computer sources

  • Commitment to participate in continuous improvement efforts to optimize reliability and value

  • Ability to work alone and in a multi-skilled team environment.

  • Qualifications:

  • High school degree or G.E.D. equivalent

  • Valid Michigan driver license

  • Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in process driven electrical field or has a certified Electrician Journeyman’s Card (U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, and in state-authorized Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training programs).

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills using predictive maintenance techniques and simplified root cause analysis of equipment failures.

  • Perform all work in a safe manner in accordance with government regulatory compliance and standard operating procedures.

  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints and interpret specifications

  • Must be able to safely operate hand and power tools, and other power equipment that are common in the electrical field including computer-based equipment

  • Good physical health, strength and stamina including eyesight, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity

  • Familiarity with computerized IWMS/CMMS work order process

  • Adaptability to work in a diverse environment, focusing on customer satisfaction under high-stress conditions, and organize an effective response to day-to-day requirements, and one-of-a-kind extremes

  • Good oral and written communications skills that invite credibility, loyalty, trust and commitment among key stakeholders in operations, critical facilities, events, and line supervisors.

  • Responsiveness to supervisory direction, productivity, quality, commitment and time management

  • Demonstrated skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

  • Ability to provide technical guidance to non-technical or production operators.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in process-driven electrical maintenance position.

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Good eyesight, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity

  • Ability to work alone and as a member of a team.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints and interpret specifications

  • Knowledge of safe operating procedures

  • Ability to understand and apply industry standards for installation, repairs and safety

  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment

  • Ability to operate computer-based equipment

  • Familiarity with computerized IWMS/CMMS work order process
