This is a Monday to Friday operation offering daytime hours.
As a Sous Chef for Aramark operations at our financial services client in Downtown Toronto, you will coordinate, plan, participate, and supervise the production, preparation and presentation of food for a restaurant and a boutique cafe. You will be responsible for providing a safe, sanitary work environment, which conforms to all standards and regulations and achieves profitable, competitive quality products. The Sous Chef supervises and participates in the production, preparation and presentation of all foods for unit as assigned by the Chef to ensure that a consistent quality product is produced which conforms to all established standards.
As the right hand of the Chef, you will assist with interviews, scheduling, training, developing, empowering, coaching and counseling, resolving problems, providing open communication, and recommending discipline as appropriate. Additionally, you will perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
Supervise and guide up a staff of 20-25 team members
Ensure that all food service standards and quality requirements are met
Menu planning, ordering and inventory
All aspects of catering management
Hands on food preparation and serving when needed
Ensure Health & Safety regulations are followed
Ensure operation’s level of profitability and client satisfaction
Training and development of employees
Minimum three years management experience in a high end kitchen environment
Ideal candidates will possess two to three years of post high school education, preferably a culinary degree
Chef papers, culinary education or very strong cooking capabilities required
Strong communication & supervisory skills
Good knowledge of company policies & procedures
Good knowledge of corporate marketing & promotional programs
Good computer knowledge (MS Word and Excel)
Experience in menu costing, menu planning and food preparation
ServSafe training an asset
Health & Safety Certification an asset
Demonstrates strong financial/analytical abilities
